This is a new policy for 2025.

From 6th April 2025 the Neonatal Care Leave and Pay Act will come into effect.

The entitlement applies to parents of babies who are admitted to neonatal care within the first 28 days of life and have a continuous stay in hospital of 7 full days or longer. Neonatal care leave is a day one right meaning it is available to employees from the first day of their employment. Statutory Neonatal Care Pay requires service and pay over the lower earnings level.

This policy outlines eligibility and entitlement for mothers whose babies are admitted following 6th April 2025.
